Future tense formed by adding endings to the INFINITIVE: -ai, -as, -a, -ons, -ez, -ont. Parler -> je parlerai, tu parleras, il parlera, nous parlerons, vous parlerez, ils parleront. -re verbs drop final e: vendre -> je vendrai.

Two ways to express future: SIMPLE FUTURE (-ai endings) - more formal, more distant future. NEAR FUTURE (aller + infinitive) - more colloquial, often closer in time. 'Je vais manger' = I'm going to eat (soon). 'Je mangerai' = I will eat (general).

Some verbs have irregular future stems but regular endings: aller -> ir- (j'irai), avoir -> aur- (j'aurai), être -> ser- (je serai), faire -> fer- (je ferai), venir -> viendr-, voir -> verr-, pouvoir -> pourr-, vouloir -> voudr-, devoir -> devr-, savoir -> saur-. Same endings as regular: -ai, -as, -a, -ons, -ez, -ont.
