Hi,
Demo Student
How Smart mode works
3 blocks of 20 min with a 90 min rest between each. The rest is what lets your brain consolidate — coming back sooner overwrites the last block's gains (about 20 % retention lost).
- Reviews about to lapse — spaced-repetition items due in the next 24 h. Highest ROI per minute; missing one costs a full interval reset.
- Recent mistakes (< 48 h) — the 24–48 h window is when the wrong-answer trace can still be rewritten.
- Overdue reviews — older due items, ordered by how overdue.
- Your weakest topic — lowest-mastery among enrolled subjects, weighted by exam proximity.
- 20 % cross-subject interleave — a few questions from a different subject, woven through. Lifts retention by ~15–25 % on everything it touches.
When a block finishes, a 90 min timer starts. During the timer, trying to start any other session pops a warning; you can override, but the ~20 % retention hit is why the app pushes back.
You can't pick a duration — length is fixed at 20 min because that's where per-question attention holds. Switch Smart off if you want the flexible mix instead.

Next block ready
Your rest window's over. Start the next 20 min block now — this is the moment your last block's material is easiest to lock in.
Skip this block?
Effective mode works because it spaces blocks across the day. Skip a block and the review interval on things you drilled last block starts winding back — you'll typically forget ~15 % more before the next test window than if you'd done it.
You can toggle Effective mode off entirely from the switch on the daily-session card.

Still in your rest window
Effective mode's between-block rest is what lets your brain consolidate what you just drilled. Studying anything else in this window overwrites that consolidation and gives you ~20 % less retention on the last block for the same effort.
