    RULES OF THUMB: -o usually masculine (el libro, el chico). -a usually feminine (la casa, la chica). -ción / -sión / -dad / -tad usually feminine (la canción, la libertad). Many exceptions to learn - always memorise the article with the noun: 'el problema' (m!), 'la mano' (f!), 'el día' (m!).

    Most adjectives go AFTER noun in Spanish: una casa bonita, un libro grande, una idea interesante. Adjective AGREES with noun in gender + number: bonito (m sg), bonita (f sg), bonitos (m pl), bonitas (f pl). Adjectives ending in -e or consonant: don't change for gender, just add -s/-es for plural.
