Time in German: 'Es ist X Uhr' or 'Es ist X' (without Uhr for casual). 'Es ist halb acht' = it's half past seven (literally 'half eight'). 'Es ist Viertel nach acht' = quarter past 8. 'Es ist Viertel vor neun' = quarter to 9. 24-hour clock common: 'um vierzehn Uhr' = at 14:00.
