These terms cover using Gist ("we", "the service"). By creating an account or using the demo, you agree to them. Nothing here overrides your statutory rights.
What Gist is
Gist is a free, personal revision-planning tool. It suggests where to spend your revision time and routes you into other apps you already use. Gist is not a tutor, an exam board, or a guarantor of grades.
What you agree to
- Use Gist for your own personal revision only.
- Don't try to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the service.
- Don't paste other people's account credentials or session URLs.
- The dashboard URLs you paste are yours; keep them secret from other users.
Third-party apps
Gist recommends and links to third-party revision apps (Save My Exams, Seneca, Dr Frost Maths, Physics & Maths Tutor, Isaac Physics, Cognito, YouTube, and others). Those apps have their own terms and privacy policies. Gist is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them. When you click a link, you leave Gist and enter that provider's environment.
No warranty
Gist is provided "as is". The scheduling engine is based on well-known techniques (SM-2 spaced repetition, target-grade proximity, hard-rate demotion), but no algorithm can promise a grade outcome. Use Gist as a study aid, not a replacement for exam-board specifications, your school, or your own judgment about what to revise.
Availability
Gist runs on a single small server. It may be unavailable during maintenance, an outage, or a natural disaster. We are not liable for missed revision time due to downtime.
Suspension
We may suspend or delete accounts that abuse the service (attempted attacks, spam, or sharing another user's data). We'll email you first where possible.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time. On deletion, all your data is removed permanently and cannot be restored.
Changes
If we change these terms materially, we'll show a notice on the dashboard for at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
